SUBMISSIONS CALL: PRAGUE CONTEMPORARY ART FESTIVAL
Deadline: 31 August 2008
After the success of WOOLOO.ORG's own art festival in Berlin in June, WOOLOO.ORG invite artists to take part in TINA B. - The Prague Contemporary Art Festival. For its third edition, TINA Bhas adopted the general theme of "Forms of Engagement", exploring the role of contemporary art, artists and artistic practice as socio-cultural agents on both a local and global level. At TINA B. 08, WOOLOO.ORG will present the project REBRANDING ACTS - an investigation of cultural identity in an age of transnational migration. REBRANDING ACTS asks artists to look closely at the ongoing production of "nationality" in their home countries and to then perform "rebranding acts" that directly intervene with the hegemony of this excluding narrative and present a radical re-thinking of it. In other words, acts that aim to "rebrand" a specific national identity.
The context and method of the rebranding act can take any possible form but the act must be documented and submitted via WOOLOO.ORG in VIDEO FORMAT. From all of the rebranding videos submitted, WOOLOO.ORG will select the most intelligent, powerful and humorous works and present them as an official part of TINA B. - The Prague Contemporary Art Festival taking place in Prague, Czech Republic from 25 September to 15 October 2008.
The selected videos will also travel to New York to be included in the exhibition Ours: Democracy in the Age of Branding taking place at the Vera List Center for Art and Politics from 15 October 2008 to 30 January 2009.
Visit http://www.wooloo.org/rebranding/e to learn more about REBRANDING ACTS and to submit your work. The submission deadline for REBRANDING ACTS is 31 August 2008.

The event reflects specificities and crossings of art practices between new cinema and contemporary art, explores media art practices and their critical purposes, and work out this necessary time when points of view meet and are exchanged.
